چکیده

Abstract: In this paper a concept will be presented that introduces a new element called forwarding mobile terminal (FMT) to the HiperLAN/2 (H/2) world. The FMT is designed to provide users in uncovered areas with access to the fixed Internet by providing an intermediate hop. The FMT is introduced in a way that it is backward compatible to existing H/2 equipment. The FMT is a modified H/2 mobile terminal which only needs different software, but no additional transceiver. The concept is evolved for the H/2 link layers and signalling flows, furthermore future possible enhancements are presented.

A Multi Hop Concept for HiperLAN/2: Capacity and Interference

In this paper the cellular aspects of a concept will be investigated that introduces a new element called forwarding mobile terminal (FMT) to the HiperLAN/2 (H/2) world. The FMT is designed to extend the area of an H/2 access point and provide users in uncovered areas with access to the fixed Internet by providing an intermediate hop. The FMT is a modified H/2 mobile terminal which only needs d...

A multi-hop PSO based localization algorithm for wireless sensor networks

A sensor network consists of a large number of sensor nodes that are distributed in a large geographic environment to collect data. Localization is one of the key issues in wireless sensor network researches because it is important to determine the location of an event. On the other side, finding the location of a wireless sensor node by the Global Positioning System (GPS) is not appropriate du...

Relaying in Wireless Access Networks –

Multi-hop wireless access networks face a number of challenges, yet might be attractive to provide improvements in capacity in energy efficiency. This extended abstract describes the research objectives of the recently started IBMS project that aims at using relay networks, with HiperLAN/2 as a case study, to provide such improvements. In particular, the need for early implementations of HiperL...

A protocol extension to HiperLAN/2 to support single-relay networks

The use of ad-hoc-based multi-hop relaying has been advocated as a means to increase the capacity and energy-efficiency of wireless networks. It is one of the goals of the IBMS project to investigate the potential of such ad-hoc relaying, using HiperLAN/2 as a case study. To realize relaying in a HiperLAN/2 network, the HiperLAN/2 protocol needs to be extended. This paper describes a standard-c...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...
